My friend

It is been a long time since I saw our friend Art Burshy.
As he has gone more daring and conceptual on his art, his sales have lowered.
He explained:
- most people like to buy what meets their taste
- due to the crisis people are buying safe investment art, staying very mainstream and buying renowned artists only.

Anyway, Art has started a career in the adult business world again, managing operations and technology of what they call a 'service company'.
It seems a bit strange for an artist, but Art does not see the problem;
a. as an artist he has learnt to make things work with a minimum of resources. And currently everyone is focusing on minimising cost, so that should not be a problem
b. he feels that many companies focus on efficiency, but they forget that productivity of people can be increased easily. Instead of focusing on 3% efficiency gain you should focus on getting people inspired! Highly motivated people have around 20% more productivity than less motivated colleagues.
c. Art stays away from the management bullshit, trying to understand situation and preparing simple explanations.

His talents have been remarked and in a way that makes him happy.
But success has many fathers, so several other people start claiming his success.
As a true artist he does not really mind:
"if they think the idea is theirs, they will be even more motivated to implement" is what he explained me.

Another part is that some people want him to join their meetings with clients, so he can so brilliantly explain complex topics in a simple way to their clients. Art has been in that situation frequently in the past, being all passionate. But although he likes being complimented and help others, he sees the risk of doing it:
a. he will spend more and more time on something that is not really part of his job
b. it will be excuse for others to not see this as part of their job (and get away with it)
c. he does not get rewarded for it, so why should he do someone else's job.

So, this time he decides to give the sales guy a hard time, helped by the fact that it is a brainless-blabla-pretty-face-car-salesman.
"Sure I can do 50% of your job... if I get 50 % of your bonus".
As anticipated the enthusiasm to get Art involved disappears rapidly, and Art quietly continues with his actual work; inspiring his team.
